Working late is a part of my job. There’s deadlines to get done and there’s also only so many hours a day you can dedicate to solid procrastination. In the past, I found it hard to sleep after these sessions.
Enter Flux.
f.lux makes your computer screen look like the room you're in, all the time. When the sun sets, it makes your computer look like your indoor lights. In the morning, it makes things look like sunlight again.
It’s a scientifically proven fact that night time exposure to blue light (i.e. Your computer scene) makes you think that it’s still day time and only a minimal amount of looking at your (two hours) screen can have you tossing and turning when it’s time for bed.
I’ve been using Flux for the last six months. The screen slowly adjusts to a yellowish brown as it gets later in the day. If you’re working the whole time the change is barely noticeable. The only drawback is if you’re doing work with images or colours. It won’t be good for editing PhotoShop documents, or colour balancing, but for hammering out some code, It’s a godsend.
